UPDATE- Just updated to v4. (4 July 2010) Best now even better! Better looks and flexible controls and USB sync is back for OS 4 users via ITunes app sync. Both USB sync and wireless sync work flawlessly for me. Worth the $ now more than ever! Thanks! This reader is spot on. I haven't used the USB version as I have just downloaded the app. The wifi sync is easy to set up and works beautifully with the desktop sync program which is super easy to use. It took me about 2 mins to download the desktop app from the bitolithic website and about 3 minutes to setup and sync my first comic. Obviously you need wireless on your comp and your iphone/ipod touch has to have working wireless or I guess you're stuffed. Works well on my 8gb touch running OS4.0 Highly recommended! (translate)

One of the best applications for the iPhone. I have been an avid user of the app for the last year or so. However, my wifi recently broke on my iphone and it will no longer work. It is not the people who make comiczeal's fault that USB sync does not work, apple requested that they remove it. Please Apple let them have usb sync back or fix my wifi for me. (translate)

I never have time to sit at home and read comics on my computer, but I do have plenty of spare time to do that on the train/tram to and from work every day. Thanks to ComicZeal, I can now happily sink myself into a few paperbacks per trip. I am new to ComicZeal, and never experienced the "USB Sync" functionality, but I can say that after fiddling with the new Wifi Sync, it's well worth the purchase. It was a tad tricky to get working, but then again I "skimmed" the manual, so by mad. However, once you get this working properly, you won't be disappointed. I'm already deep in the thick of converting a good chunk of issues from my library for my trip to work tomorrow. Brilliant job, and keep up the great work! (translate)

I also wish i could make bags/boxs easier or using the inphone app, you can do it on the sync program easy enough though. Thanks for the great app and keep on improving it. Ty (translate)

I really like Comic Zeal but there so many things that prevent me from loving it. The desktop integration works, although the entire process of transfering files over feels like a chore. This app supports folders but not subfolders, which would be really useful for organising files into additional volumes. The delete button probably needs a confirmation, as it is so easy to accidently delete files. Also, the viewer is great, but it needs a 'zoom to fit' feature to better suit lower-res scans/images. A very good effort nevertheless. Look forward to reviewing it again after updating. (translate)

Purchased the application with the hope of transferring comics across from my Macbook Pro to my iPhone. The conversion application seemed to work fine, but the iPhone seems unable to find the Macbook to copy the files across, despite both being on the same wireless network, no firewalls in the way, and other Bonjour applications I have used working in the past. Was hoping that I could put the files on a server and transfer them via Safari, but no luck. Why does the app only allow web downloads from limited sites? If you were able to add in website addresses so that you could transfer your own comics it would be a vast improvement. All up, a pity I had to spend money on this app just to find out it doesn't work for me. This program does what it says, but is kinda finnicky about it. The desktop side program and syncing are a bit of a pain, poorly designed, and not really intuitive. Still, it does allow me to read whole collections of my fav books on the go, so not a total waste. A bit overpriced until the creators fix the buggy syncing though. (translate)

It is brilliant in bookmarking where you are at, and when you fire it up, it goes straight to where you left off. I have loaded over 500 issues onto it and it has not skipped a beat. All I need to do is convert my cbr files into cbi files with ComicZeal Creator, it's easy and doesn't take long. Now I can read my comics anywhere! Oh.. and I can read Golden Age comics, not a big fan but it's interesting to read those 50's advertisements on those comics! It's certainly a pleasant surprise, it's a good way to study how people lives in the old days. The interface is simple and easy to use, pinch-zoom/fingertip scrolling, tap(need to tap it slow) to bring up navigation buttons. Didn't take me long to get used of the navigation. This app really turns iPhone into a good comic reader.A few suggestions:- It will be nice to have a button to go to the first page(done)- Make it easier to bring up the navigation buttons (Improved interface in the latest version :))- Categorization (It's now available in the latest version! The interface is intuitive and clean, and the website show great promise with an expanding catalogue of material. This app is very well done to begin with. Great intuitive interface, nice graphics and enough options to make it personal. It's great for viewing comics of course but also for viewing a large pdf. The desktop client will convert your files to a format the iPhone/iPod Touch will display. I know you can open pdf files with a lot of other apps but this one let's you see large pdf files. Is this a joke? After purchasing the iPhone app for my iPhone and now owning an iPad as well, you want me to purchase another app to cover both iPhone and iPad again? Why not simply update your iphone app to be iPad compatible and then raise it's price. So everyone who bought the original app won't have to pay for an upgrade and new users can simply pay the full 8 bux. Instead you'd rather have people pay 4 for the iPhone app then 8 again for iPad compatibility. Awful greedy. Suffice it to say, I won't be paying double for something i already own. I bought comic zeal when it first came out, and have now updated to version 4. Amazingly simple interface to get your comic collection onto your iphone. Most of the lower reviews are from people who did not know how to use version 3 properly. It seems as if people are downgrading the app because of their inability to understand how it works, not on the merits of the actual app itself. If you took the time to read the instructions, version 3 was quite easy. Version 4 is idiot proof. In both versions I added hundreds of comics and viewing them was never laggy or a problem. One complaint I do have with version 4 was that comiczeal froze while uploading a batch of comics (only 30 comics in). I restarted (not reset) my iphone and restarted itunes and comiczeal imported right where I left off, importing the next 50 comics without a problem. I found the transfer time per comic faster then mentioned. The instructions say 7 seconds per comic, mine transfered to iphone much faster than that. All in all, a great app, well worth the money. Check out some of the negative reviews and as I mentioned, it's mainy people who complain about their lack of understanding on how to work the app. Not a big fan of the free comics that you can download, haven't tried the pdf to cbz converting yet. There are a couple of things that keep this from getting 5 stars from me: 1) The thumnails of the covers are blurry to the point that they serve almost no purpose. 2) Page turning is clunky. The only option you have (without bringing up the menu) is to swipe left or right (back, forward). This is not implemented smoothly with pauses and jerkiness. It is also "hit and miss" as it will often take more than one try to get the page to turn. I would have preferred a 1 tap to turn, 2 taps to zoom approach as an option. Other than those two things, it works perfectly and I don't regret the purchase. The option to have this EASILY sync with files from my system makes it that much better. Fix the two issues mentioned and it's 5 stars easy. (translate)

Needs to be more user accessible and intuiative. Basic tasks are complicated, such as renaming a comic or moving one comic to another spot in the series. Loading comics into your ipod is difficult as it is a wireless sync, not a straight usb connection (connection seems to time out for me a lot making it even more difficult). What's worse is that is used to have a usb sync, but thanks to apple, that smart feature was canned. Few options, and few files types it suports. Like that it converts files into its own format, as it does save batterry power and space, but seems to suport even only certain types of cbr and cbz. Could be a billions times better if bitolithic fixed these problems, as viewing comic is simple and works well. (translate)

It is easy and intuitive to use and unintrusive. This app is part of the reason I got into comics since it allows you to turn an entire series portable. It certainly doesn't replace books but it complements them wonderfully. Unlike other comic readers in the app store, ComicZeal is a REAL comic book reader. Others are merely comicbook stores that let you read your instore purchases! ComicZeal will let you view any of your digital comics! That's why the best part of this app isn't the app itself, it's the converter/uploader that can be downloaded from the bitolithic webpage, it's easy to use, fast, and efficient. All of my comics (even the ones with very small text) have been very readable after being converted! and because the converter shinks the comics to 1/2 the size, there is more room on your ipod! The menu system is the worst thing about ComicZeal. It's not bad, it could just be better. First, I'd like to be able to view my 'categories' in one size of icon and my comics in another - but the change is always universal. Second, I don't think the four buttons at the bottom are the best system, a simple 'back' and 'settings' button at the top are all that's needed - I'm always hitting the wrong button by mistake - fat fingers :) On the plus side, now the backgrounds of the menu system can be changed! The comic viewer (the important part) is nearly flawless! The pinch to zoom in and out is fast and responsive while the page turning works as expected and the options to lock the screen position or take a screenshot are handy too! This is one of my most used apps! And so far Bitolithic has been updating it on a semi-regular basis. You won't be disappointed with this purchase! (translate)

I had bben trying to figure out how to read comics on my ipod touch for ages before i stumbled on this truly awesome app. Even in its current flawed state, irt is probably the most useful app i have purchased. Im sure future updates will fix bugs and improve performance. In the meantime it does what its supposed to. I would also reccomend comixology if you dont already have it for all your comic news, releases, previews and pull lists. (translate)

This is easilly one of my favourite apps on my iPhone. It's reliable, it works extremely well and best of all it's well thought out. I'd be hard pressed to think of something that needs to be improved on this app. The desktop app on the other hand, while it does what it is supposed to, it's a little irritating and non-intuitive to use. It could use a bit of the TLC used to make the iPhone app so great. The developer is also super fast and courteous when you run into a snag of some sort. Quibles about the desktop app aside I'd say this is one of the best iPhone app experience I've had to date. (translate)

This app very quickly climbed into my "Top 4" row of most used apps. What a beautiful and simple way to view comics! The program does a lot of little things to make reading on such a small screen very accessible. I had been collecting .cbr files for a long time, but didn't enjoy the process of reading comics on a computer screen. Keeping my collection in my pocket, and reading an issue in a chair when I have 10 minutes is ideal! The scrolling, zooming, and page turns are very smooth. My favorite part is the visual indication you get when an issue is read: just like in real life, the issue is "bagged and boarded" and put on display. The desktop sync app isn't perfect, but it did work for me on the first attempt, and it is simple to use (though limited in functionality). I think the bulk of the progress in future updates will be in the SyncDocs app on the desktop; the iPhone app is nearly perfect as it. Worth $10 in my opinion. (translate)

This seemed like such a great idea, having a comic reader on my iPhone. For whatever reason, I could not get it to sync to my desktop that has a wired connection to the router that supplies my wireless. Not sure if it was that or some weird firewall thing bit more testing and documentation would be great. That said, I am transfering comics from a wireless based laptop and it works awesome. Only other thing I could suggest is to do away with the "shelves" and go with something like the album browser in iTunes or the book cover browser in Stanza. (translate)

I just wish it would stay in landscape mode once I leave a comic to see the list of other comic. Interestingly enough, I can make this happen if I lock it from changing away from landscape mode, turn my iPhone to it's normal position and then tap the button to return to the list. Otherwise I really love it, features, controls and all! The comic creator and sync application for the computer makes putting .cb* files on my iPhone a breeze! (translate)
by TomeOne on 2009-04-12 (Version 2.08)
I still love this app but now that I've been using it for a while there's a couple tweaks I want to make this app perfect. I don't like that arrow in the bottom right, I just don't see the point, you can easily turn pages by sliding your finger across the screen and getting out of the comic by sliding up. So I think, just as an option you should get rid of that menu completly, not just the arrow. I also read all the comics in that landscape view so I don't have to zoom in much if at all so as well as getting rid of the menu I'd like the comic to only open horizantally then you wouldn't need the menu to lock it like that. Other than that it's still a great app, probably the one I use the most! (translate)

I had been looking for a comic reader since my first day with my iphone, and none of the available apps sufficed.. Until i tried this app :)In the beginning I found it a bit confusing but I took a chance and emailed the creator for support not really expecting a reply, but to my suprise I recieved an email with the answers to my questions only minutes after sending the email and not just the automated answers about reading the help or try and figure it out myself but a genuine answer to what I needed :)All in all I can only endorse this app and say that it has been nothing but good surprises both in functionality and support..

5 Sterne! (translate)

It's great that ComicZeal 3.0 finally has a better thumbnail display with more columns, but they don't show you any titles! The only way to see titles is by using the list view with tiny thumbnails. Not very well thought through.Turning pages by flicking is activated way too quickly now, I accidentally turn pages when I just want to drag the current page to the next panel all the time.I liked a lot of little graphical things better the way before - the wood pattern looks a bit cheaper now, the comic shadows don't look good and the whole navigation UI doesn't make any sense. I used this app for a few days now and transferred about 1GB of comics with the sync app from their website (using my Mac). Let me put it this way: The iPhone App is great. Maybe a view with two columns for an overview would be awesome and a way to rename comics and delete single pages. But it's really worth the money.Considering this, I'm happy I didn't have to pay anything for that sync thing. It took my files without any problems, but it crashes all the time converting them and it's quite hard to tell if it's really crashed or something. I'm sure a real Mac app would do a better job, being more stable and with some possibility to sort, organize, rename and whatsoever my comics (you can move issues to sections in the iPhone app, but you can't rename or remove pages). Well at least I could transfer my files...Last but not least, the Golden Age stuff is nice, but I'm not sure if I'm really going to read anything of it… (translate)

Saludos cordiales. (translate)

ComicZeal is most certainly one of the best comic reading applications out there. My biggest gripe, and hence the three stars, is that the software requires for the comics to be resized before being transferred on the iPhone. Which is fine, except you have no control as to how much. Some of my not so well scanned comics become unreadable, and you can't chose to "waste space" to improve readability... Otherwise, the interface is slick and fast. The soft sometimes crashes, but nothing big: you'll find everything in order when you relaunch. (translate)

ComicZeal is a nice way to view Comics on your iPhone. It supports CBR and CBZ files although not natively. You can download a lot of Golden Age era comics for free from within the app or import your comics file via your Mac or PC wirelessly. To do that, you download a free app from their website that acts as a converter (CBR, CBZ or JPG Folders to CBI) and an upload server for your iPhone. Comiczeal on the iPhone offers pinch and zoom (necessary for reading comics on such a small screen) and the comics are surprisingly readable on the iPhone. (translate)

Paired with the "SyncDocs" freeware application you can basically just drag and drop then sync with your iPhone. If you read a lot of comics and want to bring it with you I highly recommend this app! This is the most used app on my ipod, I use it more than I listen to my music :) The only bad part about it is...there seems to be a memory issue so if I have a lot of comics on the ipod, the backup while syncing the ipod takes ages! Uomo avvisato... (translate)

I loved this app. Unfortunately Apple have forced them to remove USB Syncing. Now its pretty worthless. USB update was great. It allowed me to edit issues on ipod. That meant I could read stories I selected. Now I have to take my laptop & ipod to work so I can update it. I then have to delete old directory, over 600 comics, then load on the ones I want to read. This is a lot more hassel than old version. All to keep Apple happy as they want us to buy comics via them. I have been collecting comics 23yrs. Spent last few scanning my collection for convenience. Now its really hard to get them on the ipod. I only got my ipod touch to read comics. Comicbook Zeal was the best comic book reader. It was reasonably priced & had a unique feature. The new version makes this reader so much more convenient. You can now just transfer the cbz/cbr files directly through itunes (whereas before you needed to use a desktop client). The sorting and management features are greatly improved as well. Great update, desperately needed in the previous version. Great comic book reader all around. (Although sometimes there is a problem width comics that tend to be too wide - the comic doesn't zoom out all the way, so you can't view the whole page without scrolling left and right - a slight annoyance but still passable). The best comic reading experience on the iphone belongs to the Marvel Comics app though since each comic pane is customized for the iphone's screen. I know that'll never happen with Comic Zeal, but just pointing that out. Comic Zeal is much better in other ways though. Worth downloading in my opinion. (translate)

A great app that has had many tweaks in v4 to make it even better! The file sync in iOS4 is awesome, so much easier, although i had to zip up a bunch of gifs to import them all at once, this is not a draw back of comiczeal but more a problem with itunes not letting me drag and drop. (translate)

Just a suggestion, is it possible instead of exiting a comic and going to the next issue, the app just goes to the next issue after you've finished one, maybe a feature if you put them together as a group? Would be incredibly easy. (translate)

I'm sorry for my last very rude review this app is good and it works very well. one or two things I could pick up on like making the slidey thing with fingers quicker and with less effort and download time quicker. Otherwise a good job. I apologize again. I was in a bad mood that day. (translate)

This is by far the best thing I've bought for my iPod. I've been waiting for an app that would let me read manga on my iPod and this is perfect! The layout and usability couldn't be better, and the fact that you can read whatever you like using the simple Comic Zeal Sync is brilliant. For manga I recommend the site Reality Lapse which, although it takes some time to put all the images into one zip folder, is by far the best I could find. Manga Plus has a bigger selection but requires a subscription. Anyway my point is, if you want to read manga or comics on your iPod or iPhone then you couldn't get a better app than this. The extra functions like remembering your chosen zoom when you tap the screen make it even better. Buy it now! (translate)

Really pleased i got this app, some great comic books online that i would never get to read otherwise. Takes a little time to get used to (Locking the screen orientation etc.) but once that period is over (30 mins in my case) all becomes very natural.Rescales comic book archives amazingly well, the ipod/iphone is a device of wonderment, and its credit to apps like this. I was initially skeptical, but this app IS worth the asking price. With the desktop sync I converted over 80 comics pretty fast and they look great too. An excellent application, the best comic viewer I've come across. The ONLY downside - well, I was in bed reading comics until 4am! ;-) It's things like this which make iPhone OS the BEST mobile platform ever created. 5/5 from me. (translate)

Pretty good. Managed to move over several cbr comics within minutes of downloading. Transfer is simple on the mac. Remembering your zoom for when you next double tap is useful and looks great seeing all my comics on the wall. I hope you guys are making a version for the iPad because that would be awesome. My only negative comment would be the icon. It looks a bit rubbish and could do with some improvement. (translate)

Having used the Marvel comic book reader I was impressed with it's quality and simple user interface. Comic Zeal has all that and more. Using Comic Zeal Sync from the website I put over 60 comics onto my iPod in less that 10 minutes. The wireless connection was flawless and very easy to use. I've used a few comic book readers for portable devices now and this is by far the best. My only gripe is the size of the screen... But hey, that's what the iPad is for right? Buy this app now. I was really unsure whether this was going to work easily but thought it was worth a try so went for it. The PC software either has a tiny glitch or I am doing something wrong because I took a couple of attempts sometimes (like twice in ten goes) but when it works it is incredibly simple. Drop cbr file into desktop software, wait to compress, press sync when finished on pc, then on phone and done! All via USB! Perfect, if you have cbr files pick it up. (translate)

I love reading comics on my iPhone. And this app is the reason. Extremely easy to use and it has all the features for a very efficient experience. The desktop tool will convert your CBR and CBZ files to CBI. And in the process will halve the size. Excellent! My only recommendation/wish; let us create custom folders for custom comics grouping. Extremely easy drag and drop all cbr comics files into the desktop app and they sync with in seconds. It's even easier than copying to a USB memory stick. The interface is outstanding! I have a large comic store on my iPhone hard drive... Be sure to get the desktop app from their website and there is no messy configeration or entering ip addresses... It just works.. For months I've been searching for a way to get my digital comic collection of CBR and CBZs onto my iPhone, and while there's a conversion process necessary to do this with ComicZeal, it's only a couple of minutes setup to do so.Previously I was converting CBR/CBZs to PDFs (very time-consuming) and watching them stick or dropout endlessly once on the iPhone.ComicZeal on the iPhone glides really smoothly and I haven't had a single dropout.True, the seperate 'ComicZeal Creator' (which converts files to the ones used by the app) is pretty clunky, and far from 'intuitive' but it's a Beta and works fine. The joy of flicking through all your digital comics on the go, wherever you are; is worth ten times the asking price of this application. I've tried a few comic apps, but non come close to this. The interface and options were always good, but with the latest update it's now so good I was compelled to review! Only negative is that I have to convert my comics to use it, but now I have mastered the naming conventions I guess I'll just maintain 2 comic repositories, one for PC one for iPhone. Please, please keep the updates coming, there is one feature I would love - being able to reset the saved page in a comic, occasionally a page becomes corrupted or is "too small" not sure why but it basically means that I cannot read the comic anymore until I have deleted and resynced it back over, would be great to have option to reopen comic and be able to skip the page until I have found out how to correct the problem with the actual CZ file. You I am truly glad that the developers thought of this app it works out so well especially when I'm on the train, I still just have a small issue maybe its because its for the itouch but I was wondering if anything could be done to make the images more high res when being transferred to the app. I know it has to shrink it down but when could it become more high res when zooming into the pages or when it is a spread page. Is that possible for the next update? it would be a huge next improvement. but other than that, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!! (translate)

My friend uses Mobisync, and after purchasing Zeal I must say I do not envy him at all. The format and price alone make this worth more in my eyes. The only thing I noticed was Mobi syncs quicker, but does not compress like Zeal or have a nice issue preview like Zeal. Here's what you are in store for when you purchase this app. 8 hours of loading time for about 50 normal books. That's seven and half hours of figuring out how to get them on the phone. And six moneths later, bitolithic will update something so the old way doesn't work and you get to figure out a new way to do what you already did. Plus, now it looks like if you buy the full verison, in a single years time, they'll down grade you to 2nd class citizen. Because they want you to spend more money to get a update to the new verison. Literally, a pain for such an okay reader. (translate)

Since the invention of the iPod touch. I waited for comics to be able to be readable on it. This App. Is the reason I bought an iPod touch. It's inspiration like the moment marvel decided to do super heroes in the 60's. Now it's not perfect, but neither were the books from that era. What's important is it's the mortar of the future. If this app could do what the marvel app. Can (panel by panel), there would be no stopping it. I've used comiczeal for about a year. It's my most used app.. for my day to day usage, it's very solid. That being said. I wish it could create a comic divider in a comic box. I've got a box that has a full run of over 400 books, and it takes time scrolling through that many books. A search option would be good. A better visual layout like Marvel, when you turn the iPod sideways and you can visually scroll through your books. I wish I could rename files, and I wish I could use a tag system, so I could follow books through different titles, but keep them in the boxes where they belong. As it is I have to have doubles in other boxes, so I can read through a series, and that's a bit difficult. In all, I love comiczeal, as much as I love comic books. Put it on your pull list, you won't regret it. (translate)

I'm an avid digital comic book reader and when my eyes hurt from using my laptop, I easily switch over to my iPhone. I love how easy it is to zoom and pan, and switch from portrait to landscape. And reading a comic that has a few "double pages" is way easier than on my laptop. It saves the page I'm reading for every comic if I'm reading more than one series at a time, which is useful for when I'm traveling and am switching between different apps. I bought this app twice because I switched numbers and accounts and didn't even think twice about it. Easily the best money I've spent. Some minor improvements I'd like: folders within folders, changing the name of a comic, single tap zoom and double tap zoom to different magnifications, double tap top right for menu (so you can just remove the arrow watermark if we want to single/double tap zoom). And when switching from landscape to portrait and vice versa, I'd like the image to be where I left off. Right now if I'm zoomed and rotate my phone, the image pans to the top left as if I barely began the page. Other than those MINOR inconveniences, which I'm sure will be addressed and fixed, definitely worth the money!! Thanks bitolithic!!! 5 (translate)

Ever since I upgraded to iOS 4.0 and the newest version of ComicZeal, it's barely useable, tends to crash about 30 seconds after launch! To be fair, I'm not sure if it's Apple's fault or the app maker's fault (probably Apple) but it's pretty upsetting, I did absolutely love this app. Perhaps someone with newer hardware (and, ergo, more memory) wouldn't have my issues though! I have an iPod Touch 2G. It would be great if there was a lighter, less feature rich version of this app that could (possibly) work on older devices. (translate)

I was a little leary at first, but this app is great. It works really well on the iPhone 4. It's fast, let's you view very nice HIGH resolution comics, and it syncs really well now. It was very slow syncing over wifi, but now that they've added the USB sync it's super fast. I'd really recommend this. I tried using the iBooks app to view comics converted to epub, but it doesn't work with images. This app, however, is great. (translate)

To the dev: please include an option turn the pinch zoom lock off. It is annoying to zoom into the last panel of a page, then turn the page with the zoom still on. It would be nice if you could zoom in and when you turn the page have it zoom back out to view the whole new page. Also, I have to convert my comics to iPad resolution for the iPhone 4 because the text was looking ugly when zoomed in. Some of us don't care about battery life so it would be nice to view in very high resolution. Thanks and keep up the good work. (translate)

I don't like writing reviews of apps that already have lots of feedback, I don't want to repeat what has already been said. In this case I wanted to express why I am glad I purchased the program, so anyone else on the fence about it will realize how great it is. I love it for reading all my CBR/CBZ files. Version 3 was great, but I had some issues with the syncing. Version 4, with iTunes syncing, works flawlessly every time for me. This app is great for reading comics at any time. The fact you can simply throw the app into the background and open it back up when you are ready to continue can't be beat. I have tried using iBooks and Stanza for reading images based books, and both don't handle the files the same way as Comic Zeal. There are often times issues with flipping pages, which is probably due to the other apps not buffering the next image. Also holding the iPhone sideways allows for easy reading as the page zooms in to fill left to right, this is another feature other programs don't have. Lastly I like to load up a lot of comics at a time, I don't know what I might be in the mood to read, and the time requirement from other programs was daunting, having to convert files, then transfer, then the program on the phone would convert. All the issues other programs have Comic Zeal either skips or does in a matter of seconds. So far I'm liking Comic Zeal. It works well with iOS4 and is easy to use. My one issue is that while it's updated to work with iOS4 Comic Zeal hasn't been formatted for the iPhone 4 display. Please do this in the near future! (translate)

ComicZealSync is buggy. Not only does Move simply not work but hitting "Cancel" inside the Move interface crashes the app every time. I find the interface less-than-intuitive. I don't understand why comics in Downloaded don't automatically appear in Collection. Wireless syncing is buggy and lacks sophistication. I opened ComicZealSync, it failed to bind to Bonjour, and I had to Force Quit the application. Some comics don't make it over when I Sync. Other times, it keeps trying to Sync the same comics. Support is lacking. No contact option on the support website. (translate)

The developer was very prompt and patient when helping me with my ineptitude with iTunes. I have used this application on my phone more than all other applications combined (phone and music player included), best money I have ever spent. (translate)

I was looking for not just a digital comic store but also an app in which I could store my own comics. I had read reviews and thought I'd give this a try. Smooth page transitions, portrait or landscape viewing, ez zoom, sync functions. This app even separates your comics (read, unread, series) in a new and fun way. This is a must buy for anyone with a cbr or cbz library they want to take with them on-the-go. My only gripe is the inability to drag/drop multiple issues in a series without needing the processing completed on the previous entry, ie. one must finish before you can drop another. This makes the input process take longer. However, even with this drawback, this is the best app store cbr reader out right now. (translate)

If you love comics, you need this. If you haven't read any comics since you were a kid, you *really* need it. This is an amazing app that has me giggling merrily as I work my way through my childhood via 1960s and 1970s Marvel comics. The controls are intuitive and enhance the reading experience instead of getting in the way. Bitolithic has done a great job incorporating customer feedback into new versions, and I look forward to seeing what the future brings. (translate)

You will not find a better comic reader out there been using for almost a year now and works great on my iPod touch. Will be utilizing on my iPhone 4 whenever apple finally decides to ship it. Not sure how this works on the iPad but I'm sure its great for that as well. If I did use the iPad this would have a to be a must own app. (translate)

Love this app but since the latest update it's been a bit sketchy. When you're browsing your collection and you accidentally turn it to landscape it opens up a blank comic with no pages and you have to back out of that to get back to your collection. Super annoying! Also I'm not a big fan of the info bar at the top instead of the bottom. Maybe the developer could add an option to have it either at the top or bottom. (translate)

UPDATED AGAIN: Version 4 - Wow! I mean...WOW! I really didn't know what more could be added to an already great app, but with this update they topped it. I'm bumping up my rating to 5 stars because it is just that good. (one issue....I have no idea what the different backgrounds are supposed to do...but really, who cares about that) The features availible in the iPad version make that purchase even more convincing, but for now...it one is definately the most used app on my touch. If your a comic book reader, drop the $4 and get reading! UPDATED: Version 3.2.2 - I freely admit, I dodged wanting to update to the new version. I was stuck wanting to sync with the USB sync. Finally, I tested it over the WiFi, and I'm glad I did. Super simple, so fuss at all. Now I can hit sync and walk to the bedroom while the comics sync...no longer tethered to the cable. It really works well. Getting an app to read comic books was a big draw for me to get an iPod Touch. I've not been disappointed in this one at all. I've not gone through and tried the other apps out there, but this one does the job well. It a snap to synch my comics and to create "boxes" to put them in. I like that it ribbons the comics you've started and will tell you the page number you left off. I even think it's a cool effect to "bag and board" the comics you've read. I find it easier to orgazine the books into boxes once I've synched them and that it is a bit cumbersome to upload a lot of books from different catagories. Otherwise...this app is superb! Drop the $2.99.....you won't be disapointed. (translate)

This is the one app I've been waiting for since I got my Iphone 4. I know it is a lot of work to put these things together. So far it's fantastic. Great Job. If you like to read comics, this is THE comic app. Nothing else comes close. (translate)

This is my second review of said app and has been provoked by my first attempt to transfer cbz/cbr's to the app via the included SyncDocs component in lieu of realizing today the current vers of iPhone Explorer does not work properly with OS 4.0 yet so I figured I'd give the wireless transfer a shot and, if it succeeded, finally upgrade to the most recent version and get it over with (I've been avoiding that bright, red '1' for this since March since USB went away). I am a Windows user of 15 years, done desktop support the entire time, worked my way up with no real education to network engineering which I do now so in the past have not really had any problems getting any wireless transfer methods to work between my laptop and my iPhone. SyncDocs or at least the combination of it and ComicZeal simply does not work, at least with my current Windows XP configuration and as I have no problems with any other wireless transfer in apps (and I user plenty) I'm don't feel it's worth the time to 'figure this out' as I shouldn't have to. The best part is once the transfer looks completed it pops up a message that reads 'Sync Successful! 0 files downloaded, 0 files uploaded' or whatever. Quite a joke. I'm glad I loaded the thing up when I first got it as I hopefully have enough on my phone currently to last me until an updated iPhone Explorer is released and i can go back to reliable, quick, usb transfer. Why the heck doesn't this thing just use an ad-hoc/my network places connection for transfering to the app???? ComicZeal Shrink can do the shrinking then you just make an option to do the transfer via my network places rather then that SyncDocs junk. So it was a great app for iPhone until the most recent update and it appears all their love is now going into the iPad version and this one is left to die a slow death. I plan on getting an iPad at some point and I'm sure this is good on that device but I feel a bit left hanging with how this was handled. They knew the SyncDocs was crap and once they had to remove the USB for this they just focused on iPad high rollers. Oh well. (translate)

This was the best value comic reader for a while... but another app - although now banned by Apple (due to non-compliance with requests) - now has it beaten because of a simple yet brilliant little feature. Instead of zooming in on the whole picture, it senses the text and only zooms in on that part instead, making it possible to see the whole page but read the text very clearly! ComicZeal needs updating now for iOS4 anyway, so if the developers could somehow include this "text-only zoom" concept (obviously without infringing on any patents) then it would be back to the best. The presentation of your comic collection in Comic Zeal is fantastic, but that's not so important when it's so fiddly to actually read your comics - at least on such a small screen as on an iPod or iPhone.
